On January 2nd, our friend Frankie Ralph ran 100 miles around his hometown of Lossiemouth, Moray, in honour of his dear friend Mikey Dunbar, who at the age of just 33, was diagnosed with Early Onset Familial Alzheimers.
Setting off at 4am, @thefrankieralph was battered by snow, hail, and below freezing temperatures, but he never once battled the elements alone and had company every step of the way. A true reflection of just how much he’d captured the imagination of the people of Lossie and surrounding areas.
Being a humble man, Frankie set his fundraising target at £1000, and currently, he has smashed that 30x over by raising an incredible £30,000 so far for Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Research Centre. You’ll find the JustGiving link here if you wish to donate.
Not content with running 100 miles exactly, Frankie ran a further mile to close the Lossie Loop for a 33rd time, ending his epic 17 hour feat at the Firth Hotel where family, friends, and people he’d never met before had gathered to cheer him home.
Frankie, you are a very special human. It’s our absolute privilege to call you a friend and share miles with you not just on January 2nd but in the past and in the future.
