On a very mild Monday in December, fearing that it may be one of the last big trail runs in not-quite-winter conditions, we headed South to the beautiful Glen Esk.

Pulling ourselves away from the urge to head up Scotland's most Easterly Munro Mount Keen due to the high winds forecast, we ignored the right turn and headed towards Loch Lee. We continued down the side of the loch, battling a relatively warm head wind, we made our way towards the Falls of Unich and climbed steeply past it and the Fall of Damff before reaching the open moorland.

We crossed the summit of Cairn Lick [682m] before descending the track on the Shank of Inchgrundle which provided panoramic views over the loch, before retracing our steps back the way we came.
